Northern Secretary John Reid has reiterated his opposition to the ongoing loyalist protest outside the Catholic Holy Cross primary school in north Belfast.

Speaking in the British government’s House of Commons, Dr Reid said: "I do not think any children should be subjected, even by peaceful protest, to what these children are being subjected to."

He also said that the loyalist Glenbryn residents, the organisers of the protest, are undermining their own cause by picking on schoolgirls.
