The family of a man who was killed in a road race competition in north county Dublin yesterday has said he died doing what he loved.
Forty-two-year-old Victor Gilmore, from Ballymoney in Co Antrim, slipped off his high-powered bike on the narrow circuit during the Killalane races yesterday afternoon.
The father of three was rushed to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A roadside marshal was also injured in the crash.
Victor Gilmore is the second rider to die during a road race in the area this year after Myles Byrne from Knocklyon in south Dublin was killed during the Skerries 100 in July.
