The ISEQ index ended the week on a high note today, climbing 69.8 points to close the day at 6,731.69, through the 6,700 barrier.
Financial stocks fared well today.
Shares in Allied Irish Bank climbed 10c to €15.85 while Bank of Ireland shares climbed 8c to €12.78.
Anglo Irish Bank shares lifted 27c to €19.95 while Irish Life & Permanent shares also climbed 27c today.
Elsewhere building materials giant CRH surged 56c to €22 in trading today while Grafton group climbed 30c to €10.40.
These shares soared as details of the national inventory of zoned residential land indicated adequate zoned land to provide over 366,000 housing units.
Business support services group DCC climbed 20c to €18.30.
Pharmaceutical group Elan climbed 15c to €20.35 today.
Meanwhile IAWS climbed 47c to €12.55 today. It emerged today just one of four West Cork co-ops is against a merger with IAWS Co-op.
Budget airline Ryanair slipped 8c to €6.41.
The most traded shares were Anglo Irish Bank, Irish Life, CRH, eircom and AIB.
