The 150-page Fianna Fáil election manifesto ’Now The Next Steps’ ,which was launched today, sets out the party’s policy blueprint for the next five years in government. As well as the previously-announced measures, it proposes:
:: A new White Paper on Defence (2011-2020) will expand the roles of the Air Corps and Naval service.
:: A 20-year strategic plan to drive the Irish language and bilingualism.
:: A new museum in the GPO to celebrate the state’s progress since 1916.
:: A new Aosdána-type organisation for traditional musicians.
:: A new national sports museum.
:: Proposals to revamp the Seanad.
:: A new Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
:: A major revamp of the country’s harbours.
:: Local authority swimming pools where most needed.
:: A network of people’s parks and urban woods
:: Local ASBATs (Anti Social Behaviour Action Teams).
:: A Domestic Violence Prevention Office to provide support services.
:: New ’retirement villages’.
:: A scheme to provide playgrounds for offshore islands.
:: A national drive to promote benefits of sport and exercise.
:: Scrapping of all cross-Border telephone and bank charges.
:: An independent Electoral Commission
