A man has been killed in a road accident in Co Cork shortly after midnight.

A man has been killed in a road accident in Co Cork shortly after midnight.

The 25-year-old man was killed when the tractor he was driving struck a ditch at 00.10am this morning.

It happened on the Glanworth to String Cross Road at Glanworth, Co. Cork, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is closed to traffic and local diversions are in place.

His body has been kept at the scene which has been preserved for a forensic examination.

The coroner and the Health and Safety Authority have been notified and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the case.
