Injuries for Reds trio out

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will be without Craig Bellamy (ankle), Fabio Aurelio (groin) and Mark Gonzalez (ankle) for the Carling Cup visit of Reading to Anfield tomorrow.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will be without Craig Bellamy (ankle), Fabio Aurelio (groin) and Mark Gonzalez (ankle) for the Carling Cup visit of Reading to Anfield tomorrow.

Benitez will also rest Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia and Xabi Alonso, with Steve Finnan also likely to sit the match out. England Under-19 goalkeeper David Martin, the son of West Ham legend Alvin, will be understudy to Jose Reina because of Jerzy Dudek’s suspension.

Benitez has added three more youngsters to the squad, midfielder Danny Guthrie and full-backs Lee Peltier and Jamie Smith. Harry Kewell remains sidelined, but Robbie Fowler is fit after a back problem and will play.

Provisional squad: Reina, Peltier, Carragher, Agger, Palleta, Smith, Riise, Luis Garcia, Sissoko, Pennant, Guthrie, Fowler, Crouch, Kuyt, Warnock, Zenden, Martin, Finnan.
