A building worker has died after an accident on a construction site at Dublin Airport, it was confirmed today.

A building worker has died after an accident on a construction site at Dublin Airport, it was confirmed today.

The man was working on the construction of a new baggage hall area in the airport when the accident took place.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority were called out to examine the site after the incident, which took place around lunchtime.

A spokeswoman for the Dublin Airport Authority could not confirm if the contractor had fallen to his death.

However, a statement said: “A full and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident will be carried out by the Dublin Airport Authority as soon as possible.

“The management and staff at Dublin Airport would like to extend its sincerest sympathy to the family of the deceased person.”
