Fergie gets involved in Mourinho's Barca row

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has entered the war of words between Chelsea and Barcelona.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has entered the war of words between Chelsea and Barcelona.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has accused both Barcelona counterpart Frank Rijkaard and Ferguson of influencing referees during matches this season.

He claims Rijkaard went into referee Anders Frisk’s dressing room during half-time of Wednesday’s Champions League clash at the Nou Camp, where Chelsea lost 2-1.

But Ferguson told The Sun today: “I don’t know enough about Mourinho to say whether he is a sore loser. But you have to trust these referees because they are supposed to be the best.

“It’s interesting that the Barcelona people say Chelsea started it. Barca claim one of Chelsea’s coaches had a go at someone and that is exactly what happened with us at Stamford Bridge.

“Some guy had a go at me. I don’t know what they were trying to do but there was some method there.”
