A musical is in the works based on the life of serial killer Andrew Cunanan, who killed fashion designer Gianni Versace in 1997, and the Versace family are reportedly furious.
They are believed to be taking legal action to try to stop the production. The play "Disposable" is scheduled to open later this year in California and will contain fictional characters, but is loosely inspired by the murderer’s life.
Apparently Donatella Versace, the late designer’s sister, feels it is glorifying a killer and will damage the memory of her brother.
The authors intend the musical to be a reflective look at a culture obsessed with money and fame.
