More than 40,000 Britons have applied for six of the "best jobs in the world" in Australia.

Following a bout of harsh weather throughout 2013, many Brits appear to be keen to move on to pastures new, with some applying for the job of "taste master", which involves visiting pubs and restaurants in Western Australia.

Other jobs include "chief funster" in Sydney, where the lucky candidate will have to review events around the New South Wales area.

A Tourism Australia spokeswoman said: “We’ve had applications from nearly every country in the world.

“Britain has most – not surprising when you consider youth unemployment and the cold weather.”
