Juvenile offender unit delayed

The establishment of a controversial unit for juvenile offenders at St Patrick’s Institution in Dublin has been delayed.

The establishment of a controversial unit for juvenile offenders at St Patrick’s Institution in Dublin has been delayed.

The centre for juveniles aged 14 years to 16 years was due to open in September, but that has now been put back until November.

The €9m facility, designed because of a lack of residential care units, will house 20 juveniles.
