A car bomb exploded in northern Iraq today, killing 12 people who had gathered around the vehicle after discovering a corpse inside.

A car bomb exploded in northern Iraq today, killing 12 people who had gathered around the vehicle after discovering a corpse inside.

Seven others were injured in the blast, which occurred in a village near Beiji, 155 miles north of Baghdad, said police Capt. Arkan Ali.

The victims had gathered around a car parked at a fuel station after they saw the body of a man inside, he said.

As the crowd stared, the vehicle exploded, he added.
