Bruton: Health ministers are 'a good team'

The Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has insisted that there is teamwork in place among Ministers in the Department of Health.

The Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has insisted that there is teamwork in place among Ministers in the Department of Health.

He made the claim despite junior Minister Roisin Shortall not mentioning Minister James Reilly in a speech on a motion of confidence in him in the Dáil last night.

Instead she highlighted significant failings by the Coalition in delivering health reforms.

However, Minister Bruton insisted the three ministers in the department are working well together.

Mr Bruton said: "What we have is a good team in the Department of Health who are committed to a programme of reform.

"That reform is difficult in a time of declining resources, but last night we got a ringing endorsement for James Reilly's leadership and the department and the ministers are setting about delivering that reform."
