Rabbitte plays down heckling incident as 'one of these things'

The Communications Minister has referred to a incident where he was confronted by anti austerity protesters outside a bar in Dublin last night as "one of these things".

Gardaí had to be called when Pat Rabbitte was heckled and shouted at by demonstrators - who had earlier held a protest outside the Dáil.

Minister Rabbitte has played down the incident:

"One of these things, a few of us left the Dáil after the change over to private members business at about 7.30," he said.

"At around 8pm I was spotted by one of the people who apparently had a protest outside the other side of the Dáil and he organised by way of mobile phone and so on to get the from the Dáil to where I was and they followed me."
