Gardai have sealed off four farms in Co Meath as part of their investigation into a consignment of sheep thought to have been brought into the Republic illegally.

Gardai have sealed off four farms in Co Meath as part of their investigation into a consignment of sheep thought to have been brought into the Republic illegally.

The farms are in Trim, Longwood and Fairyhouse.

The sheep have no symptoms of disease, but vets have begun culling the flocks as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Joe Walsh, says the cause of the outbreak in Proleek, Co Louth remaind a mystery.
