Teen killed, another critical after Cavan crash

A teenager has been killed in a road collision at Ballyjamesduff in Co Cavan.

A teenager has been killed in a road collision at Ballyjamesduff in Co Cavan.

The 18-year-old man died when the van he was driving went off the road and hit a tree at Straugh, New Inn, shortly after midday.

A 17-year-old who was a passenger in the van is in a critical condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, gardaí have named the young pedestrian who was killed in Cork last night.

He was 21-year-old David O'Flaherty of Murrough in Galway, who died after being hit by two cars consecutively on the main Cork-to-Macroom Road.

The incident happened at Knockamore near Ovens at 10.30pm.

Three people have died on Irish roads in the last two days.
