Paisley says no UUP seat is safe

Democratic Unionist Party leader Ian Paisley has claimed that all of the Ulster Unionist Party’s Westminster seats are vulnerable in the upcoming British general election.

Democratic Unionist Party leader Ian Paisley has claimed that all of the Ulster Unionist Party’s Westminster seats are vulnerable in the upcoming British general election.

Speaking in Carrickfergus Castle in the East Antrim constituency today, Mr Paisley said: "I believe that no Ulster Unionist seat is safe in this election.

"I'm not saying that because I want to believe it, but because that is the report I am getting.

"I know the Northern Ireland Office has a special poll. They will not tell you what it is, but I know what it is and it is even better than the Belfast Telegraph poll."

The Telegraph poll referred to by Mr Paisley predicted that UUP leader David Trimble and the party’s East Antrim MP Roy Beggs would face tough challenges from the DUP’s David Simpson and Sammy Wilson.
