A bus plunged 210 feet down an embankment in South Africa, killing at least 29 people.

Seven of the dead were children. Six other people, including the bus driver, were seriously injured and 56 other passengers were slightly injured.

The accident happened on a road between the towns of Franklin and Kokstad, about 300 miles south of Johannesburg. The cause of the accident is unknown.

Many of the passengers were believed to be miners, heading home for the Easter holidays.

Emergency workers are still battling to extricate passengers from the wreckage, and the death toll could rise, police said.
