Almost €300,000 worth of contraband goods have been seized in a multi-agency operation in Co Louth.

Almost €300,000 worth of contraband goods have been seized in a multi-agency operation in Co Louth.

€250,000 worth of counterfeit DVDS and CDs and approximately €40,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes were recovered in a raid at Drogheda market this morning.

Local gardaí and customs officers based in Dundalk were involved in the operation, along with members of the Irish National Federation Against Copyright Theft, and IMRO.

The searches began around 8am and were completed by midday.

A number of cars were also seized and one arrest was made.
