A freelance journalist in the North has claimed to have found Irish Government documents at an illegal dump in Co Tyrone.
Anton McCabe claimed today that he found 34 pages of Department of Justice briefing papers at the dump on a chicken farm in Eskra. He said the papers related to Ireland’s presidency of the EU.
The discovery of the documents was the latest evidence of waste from the Republic being dumped illegally across the border.
The Department of Justice later expressed its concern about the matter and said it has asked gardaí to investigate.
A spokesman said the department had strict guidelines governing the disposal of its waste.

The Labour Party has called on the department to review these guidelines and to ensure that documentation is shredded before being dumped.
It has also called on Justice Minister Michael McDowell to make a statement about the matter in the Dáil.
