Gary Neville is set to become the latest Manchester United player to commit his future to the Premiership champions.
It is understood Neville is ready to sign a new six-year contract at Old Trafford, which will reportedly be worth £11m.
It is believed the deal will double the 26-year-old England defender’s weekly salary to £32,000 and keep him at United until he is 32 at least.
Although negotiations have not yet been finalised, it is expected that Neville, who is less than halfway through a seven-year contract, will officially sign the new agreement in July.
When he does he will follow Andy Cole, Jaap Stam and Ryan Giggs in pledging his best years to United.
Last month it emerged that United have all but completed negotiations with Paul Scholes and the midfielder is expected to put pen to paper on a new five-year contract in the summer.
The talks with Neville and Scholes are just part of United’s on-going policy of tying up all their best players on lucrative long-term contracts.
United are also speaking to Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and David Beckham.
The talks with Beckham, which are just at a preliminary stage, are likely to prove United’s most difficult negotiations.
The England skipper will want a deal which recognises his worth on and off the pitch. United, though, will not go above the £52,000 a week top-earner Roy Keane reportedly takes home every week after tax.
