Champion jockey Kieren Fallon has been provisionally booked to partner Hannibal Lad when the Mark Brisbourne-trained gelding bids to win the Tote Exacta Stakes (Showcase Handicap) for the second year running at Ascot on Sunday.

Brisbourne, who completed a double at Catterick on Saturday, struck at Chester with Octane in the Linpac Group Stakes, after which he explained: “We are hoping Kieren will ride, and we expect him to unless he thinks he can get something better!

“Hannibal Lad is in very good form and he has been working with Octane so hopefully that is a good omen - and we don’t have any worries about the ground as he has won on firm and heavy.”
