Aviva has slashed the number of people it was planning to let go from its insurance business, and announced new jobs for Galway.
After announcing 950 job cuts in October, the company has said this morning that a maximum of 540 jobs will go, all on a voluntary basis.
The redundancy package on offer includes six weeks pay per year of service, capped at two and a half years pay.
The company also announced 220 new jobs for Galway through the opening of a new insurance claims and direct sales centre of excellence for Ireland and UK.
Recruitment will begin this summer.
