Former political lobbyist Frank Dunlop has insisted that he paid bribes to former Fine Gael TD Liam Cosgrave in return for his vote on rezoning motions relating to land in Carrickmines, Co Dublin.

Mr Dunlop told the Flood Tribunal today that he gave two separate cash payments of £2,500 each to Mr Cosgrave in October and December 1997.

He said the money was handed over in the Davenport and Buswell's hotels.

Mr Dunlop said that, in return for the cash, Mr Cosgrave agreed to sign six rezoning motions relating to lands in Carrickmines.

Mr Cosgrave has already denied receiving bribes from Mr Dunlop and said any money he received was a legitimate political donation for use in election campaigns.
