Briny Baird stayed on track for his first win on the USPGA Tour with a five-under-par 66 to take a two-shot lead after the second round of the Michelin Championship in Las Vegas.
Baird fired a 10-under-par 62 that tied the course record at the TPC at Summerlin on Thursday and the 33-year-old continued his outstanding play at the TPC at The Canyons course.
He birdied four of his first six holes and responded after back-to-back bogeys on the ninth and 10th with a hole-in-one at the 12th.
He added a birdie at the 14th and finished on 15 under at 128 – two shots clear of Shigeki Maruyama, Bart Bryant, Kevin Stadler, Ryan Moore and Paul Goydos.
Goydos fired a seven-under 65 at Summerlin after birdies on five of his first seven holes, while Bryant carded a five-under 66 at The Canyons.
