Man found dead in ditch 'believed to have head injuries'

Gardaí in Galway are investigating the discovery of a man's body in Connemara this morning.

Gardaí in Galway are investigating the discovery of a man's body in Connemara this morning.

They have said they are treating the discovery as suspicious.

The body of the man - thought to be in his forties - was discovered by a passerby in a ditch on the main road between Rossaveal and Baile na hAbhainn at around 8am.

The Assistant State Pathologist Doctor Michael Curtis has been notified and a team from the Garda Technical Bureau is to attend the scene, which has been sealed off pending further examination.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
