Two held in connection with post office raids

Two men remain in Garda custody this morning following a botched armed robbery at a post office in Galway.

Two men remain in Garda custody this morning following a botched armed robbery at a post office in Galway.

Gardaí involved in tackling organised crime swooped on a car in Inverin in Connemara at around 5.30pm yesterday evening and arrested the two men who are understood to be from South Africa.

A firearm, knives, balaclavas, gloves and mobile phones were also seized.

They are being held at Galway garda station.
