Raffaele Sollecito, the former boyfriend of Amanda Knox, has been invited by her father to visit them in the United States.

Raffaele Sollecito, the former boyfriend of Amanda Knox, has been invited by her father to visit them in the United States.

Lawyer Luca Maori, who defended Mr Sollecito in his successful appeals trial, says Curt Knox has invited the Sollecito family to visit them in Seattle.

Mr Maori said in Rome today that Mr Sollecito is likely to visit the Knox family “by the end of the year”.

Mr Sollecito, like Amanda Knox, had been imprisoned since 2007 for the murder of British student Meredith Kercher after being convicted by a lower court.

Mr Maori said for now Sollecito was resting and felt “frightened about leaving his house”. The lawyer said Mr Sollecito was still quite shaken.
