The grim discovery was made on Thursday but details are only now emerging.

The dead man is thought to have been from Co Cork.

Three men being held by Portugese police are from Coolock in Dublin, a fourth man in from Cork. The fifth man is a local.

In a follow up operation here Gardaí raided a house in Balbriggan, Dublin and seized €800,000 worth of cocaine. A further three kilos of the drug were found during a subsequent raid in Blanchardstown.

Two cars and an imitation firearm were recovered and three men are under arrest.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested, as part of the same operation, when a gun was found during a third search in the Ballymun area.

Gardaí say the joint operation is continuing today.
