Richard Dunne scored his first goal for the Republic of Ireland for more than three years to haul his side level at the end of a crazy first half at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia.

Stephen Ireland gave the Republic the perfect start with an eighth-minute strike on his first start for his country.

But then woeful mistakes from Andy O’Brien and Paddy Kenny handed goals to Michalis Konstantinou and Alexis Garpozis before Dunne headed home just before the interval.
