A man was sniffed out when he tried smuggling 63kg of crabs through an airport in Russia.

The smelly passenger was caught out by customs officers at Mosow’s Domodedovo Airport when the stench of the rotting shellfish was too much to bear.

One of the officers stated: “He said it was old washing but the smell was eye-watering.”

The man denied the crabs were for human consumption, saying the shells were to be used for aquarium souveniers.
