Fine Gael health and children spokeswoman Olivia Mitchell TD has called for nursing home facilities to be used to ease the overcrowding crisis in the acute Dublin hospitals.

“There are over 200 vacancies in Dublin nursing homes, which must be contracted immediately to

release acute beds for emergencies," she said.

"The situation whereby the capital city cannot deal with emergency patients is dangerous and unacceptable."
