James Franco wanted to work on ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ so he could team up with Sam Raimi.
The ‘127 Hours’ actor collaborated with the director on the ‘Spider-Man’ movie series – starring Tobey Maguire as the titular web-slinging hero – and was keen to sign up to the forthcoming ‘Wizard of Oz’ prequel so he could star in another of his films.
He said: “I love the idea of working with Sam Raimi again. Sam is a master of combining classic Hollywood character types and storylines and ideas, and then matching that with innovative technology.”
The Hollywood hunk – who this year hosted the Oscars with Anne Hathaway – is looking forward to shooting on the movie taking place because he is sure they will create a world with “room to play”.
Speaking about the forthcoming project – which also stars ‘Black Swan’ star Mila Kunis – he said: “I really think he’s going to build an incredible world, but a world where we have room to play and have fun.”
