Stobie gunned down in Belfast

William Stobie, the man who walked free from a Belfast court room three weeks ago having been accused of involvement in the killing of solicitor Pat Finucane over a decade ago, has been shot dead.

William Stobie, the man who walked free from a Belfast court room three weeks ago having been accused of involvement in the killing of solicitor Pat Finucane over a decade ago, has been shot dead.

Former UDA quartermaster William Stobie, had admitted supplying the gun which killed Mr Finucane.

The case against him collapsed when a key witness said he was unable to give evidence.

The shooting took place at 6.15am today at Fort River Parade in North Belfast.
