Three new lawyers appointed to Flood Tribunal
The Government has appointed three extra lawyers to the Flood Tribunal’s inquiry team, a year after tribunal chairman Justice Fergus Flood requested the extra help.
Environment Minister Noel Dempsey appointed Alan Mahon and Mary Faherty to the tribunal’s team tonight and named Gerald Keys as a reserve member.
The minister said the legislation necessary for their appointment will be introduced as quickly as possible.
The Government recently came under increasing pressure to appoint the extra members, with the opposition claiming it was deliberately delaying the move to ensure that damning evidence about Fianna Fail did not emerge ahead of the general election.
