Brian 'Beano' McDonald made his return to inter-county action as Laois defeated Carlow in a challenge match in Portarlington on Monday night.
McDonald broke his leg in last year's All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Tyrone and it was feared that he might never play football again, but within minutes of his introduction, he had set up his side's only goal.
However, it wasn't all good news for O'Moore boss Mick O'Dwyer - goalkeeper Fergal Byron was taken off after just 10 minutes with a shoulder injury, but an examination revealed the injury wasn't as bad as first feared.
Laois, last year's Leinster runners-up, face the winners of Sunday's Leinster quarter-final clash between Offaly and Louth.
