Kildare's great escape never materialised at O'Moore Park as their relegation from NFL Division 1 was confirmed against an already doomed Laois side.
Laois motored into a 0-8 to 0-3 interval lead but frustratingly Brian McDonald, Ross Munnelly and Peter O'Leary all missed goal chances.
The hosts were without nine regulars and that took its toll as Kildare hit the front.
Ronan Sweeney netted from a penalty and Tadhg Fennin kicked some impressive frees but 'Beano' McDonald's sixth free of the afternoon sealed the draw.
