New Cabinet due today

The new Cabinet is to be announced later this morning.

It is expected there will be just one new face on the Fine Gael side, with three from Labour.

The Taoiseach and Tánaiste will also outline their priorities with promises for social housing, GP care for over-70s, and a low-wage commission.

It took several meetings over four days for Enda Kenny and Joan Burton to finally agree their priorities for the remaining 21 months of the coalition's term in office.

The policy document includes the establishment of a low wage commission as demanded by Joan Burton to look at raising the minimum wage.

It will also promise to get building social housing, extend GP care to over-70s, then schoolchildren, and is expected to touch on budget priorities.

The Dáil is on alert for an announcement sometime after 10.30am this morning. After statements and a vote the Ministers will travel to Áras an Uachtarain for their seals of office and the first Cabinet meeting.

It is widely speculated that in the Fine Gael side Paschal Donoghue will be the only new face to replace Phil Hogan, with Ministers being re-assigned Departments, but that three new Labour faces will be added by Joan Burton.
