The veteran, who made top-flight appearances for Derby and Leicester during a lengthy career which began in 1981, will act as cover for number one Dean Lyness following the recall of on-loan Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford.
It will be the second time this season Poole, who is the oldest registered player with the Football League, takes his place on the bench after doing so in a similar situation last month.
Brewers boss Gary Rowett told BBC Derby: "Obviously that is not something we want to do long term.
"I said to Pooley at the start of the season that if we have to do it for one game, if it saves us wasting money on a loan keeper for a month, then it makes sense for me to do it."
Poole's last first-team appearance for the Brewers came as a 47-year-old in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Rotherham.
