Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has extended his sympathy to the family of Councillor Michael Browne, who passed away over the weekend.
The Sinn Féin councillor, who was also Mayor of Cashel in Co Tipperary, died on Saturday night following a battle with a serious illness.
Deputy Adams said his death is a loss for his family, for the people of Cashel and for Sinn Féin.
Mr Browne met with the Queen of England during her recent visit to Ireland, and shook her hand as she visited Cashel.
