MEPs recommend use of body scanners at EU airports

MEPs in Strasbourg have today recommended that body scanners be allowed at EU airports.

MEPs in Strasbourg have today recommended that body scanners be allowed at EU airports.

However, they have waned that the health, dignity and privacy of passengers must be respected when the scanners are used.

They have also stressed that any form of profiling based on the likes of sex and ethnicity be prohibited.

The European Commission is expected soon to allow EU Member States to use body scanners at airports.
