Ireland's fiercest critic in the European Union has met with Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy in Dublin.

Ireland's fiercest critic in the European Union has met with Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy in Dublin.

Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Pedro Solbes praised the new savings initiative announced by Mr McCreevy.

Commissioner Solbes is in Ireland just one week after he rebuked Minister McCreevy for his economic policies.

He has already met with unions and employers.
