You can post letters again tomorrow; industrial action suspended for talks
Industrial action that has seen the postal service shut down has been suspended, with new talks to begin tomorrow.
The Communications Workers Union said it was suspending its strike after IO systems agreed to restore workers to their agreed wage levels and rostering.
The dispute between the two groups has seen the postal service effectively shut down since last Friday afternoon, with An Post advising the public not to post any letters or parcels.
In a statement this evening the CWU said a new round of talks would begin tomorrow afternoon.
While the CWU said it expected An Post management to immediately restore full service across the national postal system.
An Post has confirmed this will allow services to resume, and said customers could post letters and parcels tomorrow. Normal working will resume this evening in mails processing centres and any mail already in the system will be prioritised for delivery.
Department of Social Protection cheque payments by mail and Passport Express services will resume immediately. However, An Post warned it would take a number of days to restore full normal service.
