Slobodan Milosevic appeared at a gate to his villa in Belgrade today.
Milosevic's appearance deepened the intrigue in the Yugoslav capital amid conflicting reports that he had been arrested on charges stemming from a decade of repressive rule.
Serbian state television had announced a few hours earlier that the former Yugoslav president had been arrested.
But close aides issued swift denials, and the Government did not immediately issue an official statement to lay the confusion to rest.
Milosevic did not say anything during his brief appearance.
