Two men charged with drug dealing after €1.5m cannabis seizure

Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with a €1.5m drugs bust in west Dublin.

Hungary native Istvan Bogdan and James Slattery of Bawnlea Drive, Jobstown in Dublin were arrested yesterday as part of an intelligence-led operation.

Early yesterday morning, officers from the Garda National Drug Unit swooped on a car and a truck at the Northwest Business Park in Blanchardstown.

Two men were arrested at the scene and cannabis, worth €1.5m, was seized and taken away for analysis.

The seizure was the latest in a string of successful operations that have taken more than €17m worth of drugs off the streets in the past five weeks alone.

Today, Istvan Bogdan (aged 41) and co-accused James Slattery (aged 32) were brought to court charged with drug dealing offences.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
