Two men have been arrested today in connection with the armed hold-up of a cash delivery van, gardaí said.

Two men have been arrested today in connection with the armed hold-up of a cash delivery van, gardaí said.

The robbery happened at the Orwell Shopping Centre in Templeogue, south Dublin, at about 4.50pm last Saturday.

Two men involved in the incident, one armed with what is believed to be a handgun, fled the scene in a car driven by a third accomplice.

The car was later discovered burnt out a short distance away.

Investigating officers, based in nearby Terenure, carried out searches in the west of the city this morning.

Two men in their 40s were arrested and cash was recovered during the raids.

The suspects are being held at Terenure and Rathmines Garda stations, where they are being questioned under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
