Thousands expected at Dublin Gay Pride parade

Thousands of people are set to march through Dublin this afternoon in the Gay Pride parade.

Around 20,000 people took to the streets last year, and organisers say they expect a similar turnout today.

"Dublin Pride now is actually the second-biggest festival in Dublin after St Patrick's Day," said Ciarán Ó hUltacháin, vice-chairperson of The National Lesbian and Gay Federation.

"And in many ways, it's the best fun, free festival in Dublin throughout the year.

"Pride is both a political celebration, but also it is a fun day for everybody, for the family."
