Ten food providers closed in February for safety breaches

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland closed down 10 premises last month alone for breaches of food safety regulations.

Town Bar and Grill on Kildare Street was among the premises closed down, as well as the deli counter at a Daybreak store in Ferns in Co Wexford.

In total fourteen enforcement orders served on food businesses in February.

Commenting on the high level of Closure Orders which are served on businesses here, the Chief Executive of the Food Safety Authority said standards must not be allowed to slip to such levels that consumer health is put at risk.

He said each Closure Order undermines consumer confidence in food safety.
