Taoiseach: Reversing home help cuts 'not possible'

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has today rejected fresh calls for the Coalition to reverse cuts in home help hours.

Mr Kenny said that people with an assessed need for help will get it.

In the Dáil, Fianna Fáil highlighted cases where people have had home help services stopped altogether

The Taoiseach sais that reversing the cuts is not an option, however.

"Now we can all come up with individual cases that will stray outside that boundary," he said.

"You asked me here to reverse all of these. That's not possible.

"But what has to be done is the management teams, the professional teams, who deal with this, and I met some of the service providers myself when in Cork recently, have to do so in a measured, and a sensitive fashion.

"Those who need the service will continue to get a service."
