Tánaiste defends Government record on health reform

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore is defending the work of Ministers in the Department of Health.

Fianna Fáil claims there is a "fractured working relationship" between the Health Minister James Reilly and the Junior Health Minister Roisin Shortall.

Last night, Minister Reilly won the support of the Dáil in a vote of confidence, although Minister Shortall did not actually state her confidence in him during her four-minute speech.

Eamon Gilmore, speaking in the Dáil, said that there is a strong team in the Department of Health getting on with the job of repairing the health system.

"This Government is in the process of repairing that," he said.

"We have a strong team in the Department of Health, led by Minister Reilly, Minister Shortall, and Minister Lynch and they are getting on with the job of repairing the health service that you [Fianna Fáil] broke.

"They are going to deliver on that, I expect that they will deliver and I'm confident that they will deliver."
